Postpartum Ceremony

Closing the Bones Postpartum Ceremony
What is it?
It's an amazing gift for a mom after sharing her body while carrying and birthing her baby. A special gift for her mind, spirit, and body. It's a therapeutic ceremony that you fully deserve as someone who brought a new life into this world. It's a very feminine and intimate experience that will leave you feeling full again and will allow you to go back into your body, feel feminine, and regain your sexual energy.

The Ceremony is always created for each woman individually. I'll ask you some questions to learn about your birth experience as well as your needs and wants, in order to create a special experience for you. No two ceremonies are the same. Some might include a gentle massage, warming herbal tea, and a nutritious meal, while others can include an herbal bath or herbal steam, and me listening to you while holding you, if this is what you need. All ceremonies, however, end with wrapping your body in traditional Mexican rebozo scarves.

It's for you if:
* You've given birth (recommended to wait at least 40 days after your baby was born, but if you truly feel a huge need for the ceremony earlier, please contact me and we'll figure something out; upper limit doesn't exist, you can be even 5 years after and still want and need some healing)
* You're experiencing an overall feeling of tiredness, anxiety, resignation
* You want to start healing your pregnancy/birth trauma
* You don't have time to take care of yourself
* You feel like you're stretched thin
* You have a need to be taken care of in a loving, warm way
* You need some more feminine energy; you need to be seen as the woman you are
* You feel like your birth wasn't exactly the way you envisioned - you feel a lack, like you missed out, you're not fully satisfied, but are not sure why exactly
* You want to reconnect with your partner but are not sure how
* You lost your baby and can't seem to be able to process grief and move on

It can help with:
* Healing your mind, spirit, and body
* Finding your energy again as a tired, sometimes helpless, and overwhelmed mom
* Finding yourself becoming a mother and fully embracing it
* Allowing your body to adapt to its new situation and to heal after pregnancy and birth
* Processing and letting go of any trauma you might have experienced
* Processing and letting go of the feeling of someone else owning your body, of unexplained anxiety within
* Literally putting your internal organs in their right places, which can help you with achieving a better posture and getting rid of the feeling of "everything hanging and moving around."

What happens during the ceremony?
Each ceremony starts with creating a warm, safe, and intimate atmosphere. We'll drink warming herbal tea and share about how we feel and what we think about. You'll have an opportunity to talk about things you might not have space to express otherwise. You won't be judged, analyzed, or questioned; just listened to, held, respected, and accepted.
Like I mentioned above, there are no two ceremonies that look the same because each one of us is different and has different experiences. So, the middle part of the ceremony will be based on our conversation beforehand, during which you share your challenges, needs, and wants. The ceremony can include a full body massage, a warming healthy meal, space for you to be listened to and heard, an herbal bath, herbal steam, a nutritious meal, hugs, and more.
Your body will stay warmed up during the whole process, as being warm helps with healing inside and out. If your birth was recent, staying warm and sweating will release a hormone called relaxin that was produced during pregnancy to relax your body. Releasing its excess after birth will help with "getting it back together", feeling more whole, and "getting your body back".
I'll use oils, essential oils, and herbs to your liking. We can also not use them at all if this is what you prefer.
The last part of the ceremony always looks the same and is the most important part. I'll wrap you tight in special scarves. I will again massage your body during this process to relax even more. I'll gently move your body using the rebozo scarves and pressing on your bones, muscles, and joints in order to create a new form for your body. Many women notice a smaller waist, belly sticking out less (although it's definitely not about weight loss, more about adjusting your body a little bit), they feel stronger and more "put-together", and they also feel mind and body blockages letting go.
You'll be left feeling reborn in any possible way.
Each woman will receive a small gift chosen especially for her to carry and support her for the rest of her life, as the postpartum period never ends.

When finishing up, we'll talk about your experience if you're willing to share. We'll have one more warm drink, and I'll share my knowledge and experience about what to do next and how to keep that newly gained comfort and confidence in your mind and body.

The ceremony usually takes up to 4 hours. Can be done at your home or mine. You can have your baby with you, or no, depending on your preference and needs.
