About Me & My Philosophy

Hello! I'm Emily. I'm a mom of three. My first was a hospital birth, the second and third homebirths. The picture on the right side is of me with my second baby, right after he was born.

I gave birth to three amazing children. My first was born in a hospital, and even though I went into labor naturally and gave birth vaginally, I still had a feeling of loss. I had a feeling that I missed something, but couldn't figure out what it was. I also struggled with postpartum depression that, I now believe, was caused not only by big shifts in my hormones but also by my feeling of missing out, loss, and, most of all, lack of support.

I wasn't aware and educated enough in everything labor and birth-related, and didn't know how to advocate for myself during this incredibly challenging time.

Childbirth is a physiological process that the female body is made for. Regardless of where and how you want to birth, it goes best when you trust your intuition, your body, and your baby. When you're in touch with yourself while turning off your analytical mind and surrendering to all the sensations, while being supported and loved. Each one of us has this intuition and is able to listen to it, if allowed. Births have been highly medicalized in recent years, which causes women to question their abilities and their bodies.

So, I am here as a guide and space-holder to allow and teach you how to go back to yourself and regain that power you still have but might not feel at this moment. I help to create the right atmosphere and mindset that will allow you to embrace and fully accept what will happen during labor, the intensity of it all - both mental and physical. I'll guide you through pregnancy by educating and supporting you in any way you need. I'd also love to help you postpartum - I offer daytime postpartum support as well as overnight help, which you can read more about here. I'm also the only doula in this part of the country offering a healing postpartum ceremony, which you can read about here.

You're not supposed to do it all alone! Let me help.

A Little Bit More About Myself

My name is Emily. I birthed my first baby 2 weeks after my 24th birthday. Since I can remember, I always wanted to be a mother. I'm now 33 years old with three children, and I'm fascinated by everything pregnancy, birth, and postpartum related.

With my first birth in 2016, I became interested in all topics around pregnancy and birth. I started reading and learning more and more, which helped me understand that, as I mentioned before, even though my birth was OK overall, it wasn't the way I truly wanted it to be, and the Western way took a lot away from me without me being aware of it.

It wasn't until I got pregnant for the second time that I really started to learn and fully understand so much more about the whole process and what happens when a woman trusts and is supported. When this happens, she can have an amazing experience!

I had two amazing births that I'll never forget. My second baby was born in water in a birthing pool in my bedroom. My third was born on the floor under the shower, and it was so fast I didn't even fully realize I was in labor until my body started pushing my baby out!
I've seen numerous stories of women claiming their power and anatomy back, and then having memorable experiences like mine of bringing babies into this world, of being fully seen, respected, and supported. I knew I wanted to do something to change our current view of birth and allow other women to reclaim their power.

My credentials
I trained in person with an amazing doula and midwife in Bali, where I not only learned the theory but also experienced it myself and saw how the Eastern part of the world cares for pregnant and postpartum women.
I went through a Birth Doula Mentorship with a midwife, and I got certified through her program.
I now finished additional Birth Doula Certification training with the International Doula Institute.
I'm a certified Parenting & Communication Coach based on Thomas Gordon's philosophy (I specialize in infants, toddlers, and small children).
I'm also currently in class to become a certified Breastfeeding Counselor.
I can provide my certifications upon request.
