About Me & My Philosophy
|
Hello! I'm Emily. I'm a mom of three. My first was a hospital birth, the second and third homebirths. The picture on the right side is of me with my second baby, right after he was born.
I gave birth to three amazing children. My first was born in a hospital, and even though I went into labor naturally and gave birth vaginally, I still had a feeling of loss. I had a feeling that I missed something, but couldn't figure out what it was. I also struggled with postpartum depression that, I now believe, was caused not only by big shifts in my hormones but also by my feeling of missing out, loss, and, most of all, lack of support. I wasn't aware and educated enough in everything labor and birth-related, and didn't know how to advocate for myself during this incredibly challenging time. |
Childbirth is a physiological process that the female body is made for. Regardless of where and how you want to birth, it goes best when you trust your intuition, your body, and your baby. When you're in touch with yourself while turning off your analytical mind and surrendering to all the sensations, while being supported and loved. Each one of us has this intuition and is able to listen to it, if allowed. Births have been highly medicalized in recent years, which causes women to question their abilities and their bodies.
So, I am here as a guide and space-holder to allow and teach you how to go back to yourself and regain that power you still have but might not feel at this moment. I help to create the right atmosphere and mindset that will allow you to embrace and fully accept what will happen during labor, the intensity of it all - both mental and physical. I'll guide you through pregnancy by educating and supporting you in any way you need. I'd also love to help you postpartum - I offer daytime postpartum support as well as overnight help, which you can read more about here. I'm also the only doula in this part of the country offering a healing postpartum ceremony, which you can read about here.
You're not supposed to do it all alone! Let me help.
