About me & my philosophy
|
Hello! I'm Emily. A free-birther, mom of 3 little ones, pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula & guide.
I gave birth to three amazing children. My first was born in a hospital and even though I went into labor naturally and gave birth vaginally, I still had a feeling of loss. I had a feeling that I missed something but couldn't figure out what it was. I also struggled with postpartum depression that, I now believe, was caused not only by big shifts in my hormones but also by my feeling of missing out, loss and, most of all, lack of support. I wasn't aware and educated enough in everything labor and birth related and didn't know how to advocate for myself during this incredibly challenging time. |
Childbirth is a physiological process that a female body is made for. Regardless of where and how you want to birth, it goes best when you trust your intuition, your body, and baby. When you're in touch with yourself while turning off your analytical mind and surrendering to all the sensations, while being supported and loved. Each one of us has this intuition and is able to listen to it, if allowed. Births have been highly medicalized in recent years which causes women to question their abilities and their bodies. So, I am here as a guide and space-holder to allow and teach you how to go back to yourself and regain that power you still have but might not feel at this moment. I help to create the right atmosphere and mindset that will allow you embrace and fully accept what will happen during labor, the intensity of it all - both mental and physical. I'll guide you through pregnancy and birth, offering postpartum help as well.
I am not a midwife. What speaks to me the most is pregnancy, birth and postpartum keeper as I literally keep or hold space for you and your baby. I do not offer medical care but I will guide you during your pregnancy, share evidence-based information and help you regain the power you have within to birth your baby the way you wish. I'll be there for you when you're in a process of birth and will support you the way you need it. I'll also be there for you to make you a meal and do your laundry while you nap or snuggle with your newborn. I'll do a postpartum ceremony for you which will allow you to fully heal and embrace whatever happened during labor to then smoothly transition from a maiden to a mother.
A little bit more about myselfMy name is Emily. I birthed my first baby 2 weeks after my 24th birthday. Since I can remember, I always wanted to be a mother. I'm now 31 years old with three children and I'm fascinated by everything pregnancy, birth and postpartum related.
With my first birth (7.5 years ago today) I became interested in all topics around pregnancy and birth. I started reading and learning more and more which helped me understand that, as I mentioned before, even though my birth was OK overall, it wasn't the way I truly wanted it to be and the Western society took a lot away from me without me being aware of it. It wasn't until I got pregnant for the second time that I really started to learn and fully understand so much more about the whole process and what happens when a woman trusts and is supported. When this happens, she can have an amazing experience! |
I had two amazing births that I'll never forget. My second baby was born in water in a birthing pool in my bedroom. My third was born on the floor under the shower and it was so fast I didn't even fully realize I was in labor until my body started pushing the baby out! I've seen numerous stories of women claiming their power and anatomy back, and then having memorable experiences like mine of bringing babies into this world being fully seen, respected and supported, I knew I wanted to do something to change our current view of birth and allow other women to reclaim their power back.
